This energy and home improvement fair will showcase local resources (businesses, organizations, networks) that can be utilized to decrease our dependence on nonrenewable energy sources. The theme is to ease your conscience locally by promoting sustainability-focused businesses and organizations. There will be more than 40 workshops, including sessions on energy efficiency and renewable energy for your home. We hope to save you money, reduce our regions use of fossil fuels, and boost the local economy.
Our music will all be off of the grid, powered by Home Eco, St. Louis's first environmentally friendly home products store.
Home Eco is providing a system that consists of three Unisolar 68 watt panels on the roof, an Invertek 1500 watt inverter, a Morningstar MPPT charge controller with the remote display and a 200AH battery pack.
Everyone at the Fest will have the opportunity to Tour
the RV of the Future!
This Solar/Wind/Ethanol powered RV features 350 watts of solar power, 400 watts of wind power, a 700 amp hour battery bank, a 30 amp charge controller, insulating curtains, LED lighting, Solar Water Heater , 12 volt 5.5 Cu. Ft refrigerator that only uses 24 amp hrs per day and many other energy efficient appliances.
We're also raffling off an electric lawn mower! You could be the lucky
winner of the CE-5
Battery Powered Mower donated by Neuton
Power. You can mow for up to 1 hour on a single charge, and you won't
have to worry about the noise, exhaust, and cost of a gas mower any longer.
Raffle tickets are $1 each or 6 for $5 and will be available throughout the
weekend.
In addition to educational workshops and vendor showcases, the weekend will feature speakers, tours of the Green Retreat, music, food, a Youth Fun/Education Tent for the kids, and a whole lot more!
The cost of the event is $7 per day or $10 for the entire weekend.
Parking will be at the SIU Arena parking lot 56, with a shuttle provided to the venue. Several wineries and natural areas in the region can round out your day or weekend. The Energy Fest hours will be Saturday, 10 AM-6PM and Sunday, 10 AM - 5 PM.
